I hope that SMU watches this USC-Stanford game and realizes that hey, here are two small, academically oriented large city private schools that outperform us in both academics and athletics. Let's stop settling for what we are and become what we can be.

Yes on all except the size of the two schools.
- USC has over 36,000 students with about half being graduate students. Having a medical school helps, too. (The're a great customer, too!)
- Stanford has about 15,000 & not sure of under- to graduate ratio.
But your point about competitiveness is right-on!!!

Wasn't aware USC was that big. Believe Stanford has about 7,000 undergraduates, only slightly more than us

Stanford definitely handed it to my Trojans tonight.
The whole world now knows how the NCAA Penalties are starting to show themselves.
Stanford easily won the Line Of Scrimmage on both sides of the ball.
The lack of a running game showed as well.
This is unfortunately just the start of our decline as we deferred taking the two years of scholie reductions until now.
The Freshman center showed how important it is to have depth at all positions and USC does not.
Stanford outplayed and out coached my Trojans and easily was the superior team.
Well Played Stanford!

I didn't see the game-but these types of probations erode just about every team sooner or later. USC can cover up the holes better than any other program because they have the best recruits in the country. I think you will see TCU have some problems too because of their exodus
