Storming the Field

Huskies fans stormed the field tonight after they defeated #8 Stanford 17-13. I don't really get it. You just beat a team that was #8, but clearly not as good as that ranking presumes. After this loss Stanford will drop at least 7-8 spots. Why should fans storm the field for beating a team that might be one of the 15-25th best in the country?

The OP is what is wrong with the SMU student mindset. They beat the #8 team in the country. Regardless of your opinion, they were still a Top 10 team. That win was BIG and when you get a massive win at home like that, you storm the field and celebrate.

All the more reason to have a playoff. Shows you how foolish rankings actually are.

I'm assuming it must be original (i.e., thread-starting) post.

If we win tomorrow, I am all for storming the field. Students should celebrate the victory, and rub it in Fatterson's face.

SMU fans stormed TCU's field last year after beating TCU who had already lost to Baylor. Since it was at their home field and they got jacked up by LSU let them have some fun. No problem with that at all. It has been a while since they had beaten Stanford I believe.
