Zach Line, 4 times...

There. I said it before going into worship this morning. I feel better...sort of.
I guess with 5 turnovers, poor concentration, an EXCELLENT defensive effort, you can still hang with the #15 ranked Frogs.
We were afforded every chance to beat them, even with an enemic offense.
Hubris, that enemy of the gifted, raised it's head at the 1 yard line...when 4 X Line would have sufficed.

You know, Gilbert's got some wheels - and he's 6'5.
Sneak, sweep, option, bootleg, Z. Line, rollout - lots of possibilities..
No Jumbo Package. I just don't get it..

Not in the Run and Shoot, oh no.

Yeah a Gilbert or Zach line run would have been enough not freaking passing....

Zach Line got 4 carries in the entire second half. We were 11 points down and we essentially abandoned the run at half time.
Did June forget that he was the only one able to get the ball into the endzone in the first half?

If you recall, both sides of the ball were unable to get a running game going.

you are right Gilbert, Line or a wildcat package like TCU and so many others. Let's see...you got Jeremy Johnson, one of the greates run/pass qbs in the state from his high school days. Ronell Sims, one of the greatest run/pass qbs in the state from CLass 5A state champion Abilene and probably a hard matchup with his size for a defense to stop and other high school qb's on the roster who were not top passers for college but were great dual threats in high school. Inexcuseable to not prepare.

Zach had 11 carries for 42 yards and a TD in the first half. That is good productivity. There was no reason to abandon the running game at half time.

He had 15 carries, total of 44 yards.
Half of those yards came from a single 20-ish yard rush for a TD.
In other words, it was an exception to the rule, not the standard.
If you take that rush out of the mix, most of his rushes were between 1-2 yards. That's inconsistent.
Also, when's the last time Zach fumbled the ball?
TCU was not exempt from this issue.
Both teams all but cut out their running game for serious yardarge in the second half as the weather got worse.
I understand why June didn't do much rushing.. same goes for Fatterson.
Look at the box score..

1 yard line. So even at his 2.9 yard per carry average, we had a chance. We are not doing well at passing inside the 10 yard line all season even in good conditions re: Baylor.

As I said, if you take out that one TD rush, his average was approximately 1.6 yards per carry. You don't make first downs with that.
Regardless, no matter how you play the numbers, the pressure was on GG and receivers to complete passes.

I'll take a 1.6 YPC average when you are a yard away from paydirt...
Alas, arguing about how many angels balance on the head of a pin.
I would take a mediocre offense at this point.

Well, I think we can both agree there. Not utilizing Zach a second time at the 1-2 yard line was a royal mistake imo. I think June admitted that.
In fact, I needed a couple additional beers after that debacle.

First of all, you can't just take out his good plays and then say other than that he was no good.
Second, if that is inconsistent, what do you call our passing game:
44 pass plays
20 incomplete
5 intercepted
4 sacks
15 catches
Only 1 out of 3 pass plays netted a positive result. Again, why would you abandon the run in favor of plays with that kind of success rate, when it is a close enough game that you don't need the home run type play?

Yes, that was my point. June did the same thing at Baylor even when Line was running better. Line will get you a yard, passing likely wont at this point.
I also very much agree with stealths point. Keep it simple.
