Sports Authority Plano--wear purple Friday?

So I popped in to the new Sports Authority at Park/Preston. Standard Big 12 stuff and the sales clerks are wearing purple TCU shirts. I ask WTH and am cheerfully told that it is "wear purple Friday" to which I replied "not in Dallas". Dingbat blonde informs me that they have a deal with TCU so they wear purple. I'm sorry to say I didn't ask to speak to the manager but after she tried to sell me a chair with a whorn on it I couldn't get out of there fast enough.

This is not about slamming SMU.
This is about Sports Authority supporting the local team, if they're going to support anybody. There are plenty of SMU people in Plano not to mention we have a campus there.
It's a cheesy store anyway so no big deal for me to not go back just like I don't shop at Academy.

Hey i wish they would along with every retail store in the area, but you know its not going to happen. I was going to buy my girl a James Avery necklace (yes im not CoC) and they only had like AM and TCU and some other teams but not UT (Surprisingly) and SMU and they said they would get SMU if they worked on their licensing agreement... sad day

Ponylove, sounds like something you might want to let the SID know about.

If you don't like what a company/store is doing, do what I do---let them know why you will never step foot in their establishment and then follow through! Sports Authority is a waste of my time so I don't go there.

I'm surprised b/c when my daughter was a young teenager, I bought her the Mustang charm, which was labeled as SMU. Don't try to do the math, but that was a "couple" of years ago!!!

I will definitely be following up, I was just in a hurry today. It wasn't the lack of SMU merchandise ( I'm used to that and that's not why I went)...it was the stupid wear purple Friday comment that pissed me off...

If you ran a sports business with no real affiliation to any team, why would you support the team the team l that just lost to another local team? They're running a business, not a fan club. Win, and they will support us. They're not going to support just because we're close. Nor should they, this is our own damn fault. Don't condemn them for supporting a winner.

They can do whatever they want...........just like the consumer who has no affliation to a particular sporting goods store!

Let's be honest, SMU is the Park Cities' team, not DFW's or Dallas' unfortunately.

Exactly. They can wear purple on Tuesdays for all I care. I won't shop there nor will my family and I'll definitely tell my friends and neighbors. I'm sure they'll do just fine without me.

Can't argue with that. I didn't shop there to begin with...
