Chcago Tribune article on Big East eyes stability with new TV deal

"In Mike Aresco's negotiations for a critical new media rights deal for his conference, the former television executive makes this point: A network can have Big East football playing from noon to 2:30 a.m. on any given Saturday."

You know he's shifting to basketball because teams like us collapse to actual competition. I knew that since we couldn't be competitive along with Houston, those tv deals have to be brutal. The fact we are saying we will take afternoon spots should give an indication of where we are

"I have talked about adding a 14th team in football. I don’t think there's any doubt when we go to divisional play in football, we'll have 12 teams initially next year, when Navy comes in we’ll have 13 teams. So we'll want a 14th team"

Any thoughts on who that 14th team might be?

"On the Big East tournament at Madison Square Garden: "That is clearly a priority for us, we've been working with the Garden, we have a long-term deal in place now, it goes another four years"

That is pretty sweet for SMU , be a new recruiting tool, and a fun road trip. Always wanted to visit the "Garden".

Wow 230 am? Why not just say 12 to 12... Anyways my bad. I'm kind of pulling for BYU since they're better than AF and have a huge fan base and only positive for AF nobody wants to screw over military

I get the feeling the BE would like to lure all the academies and BYU and consider a 16 member football league

You would be much more credible on this board (and probably in general) if you learned to leave politics out of your comments.

Just sayin'

Meh, if this was all face to face I probably leave it out half the time I do it for laughs especially those who take it serious

First, 16 teams makes me nervous (i.e. WAC); BUT, imagine the national coverage with the three academies' FB teams on TV with fans showing up in any stadium coast to coast. Navy and AF are been quite competitively and Army is showing promise.

Combining AF and Army with BYU (note: ND has made a partial commitment to ACC FB, so the Cougars maybe rethinking their previous caution) with their rich tradition and national interest, may be the answer. Alternatively, BYU only.

Lastly, any basis for the "feeling'?
