June Jones is not getting fired. Its just a bunch of pissed off alumni throwing [deleted] against the wall. That's not to say that there should not be major changes in the way that he conducts his football program in relation to recruiting-they have every right to be angry-he is getting paid too much for a guy that is only doing half of his job.

who would actually root for the failure of their team in order to get a new coach?

As much as I want June gone, I still hope that the Ponies kick butt and win every single game.

Scratch and claw to get a 6th win in piddly C-USA or get our act together for competing in the Big East. I would never root for SMU to lose but we should have fired Jones after the ASU debacle and given the awful mess that has transpired subsequently recruiting-wise, we shouldn't be afraid to do it just because we still have a hope and a prayer at a C-USA title. This ship has major leaks and our biggest battles aren't this year, they're next year and beyond.

Keep winning and hope June gets hired elsewhere.

It's a silly question. I'm not at all convinced that one has to do with the other. In fact, I think I agree with sbsmith... winning out might be the best way to get rid of him, if that is what the goal is.

If June miraculously finds a way to win games with the players he has recruited then it would be foolish to fire him. The end goal is to win games, not recruiting rankings so a fan should never want his team to lose. I agree that June's recruiting at SMU has been abysmal, but would be very happy if we won out and went to the Liberty Bowl as CUSA champions. The more we win, the more attractive the position will be to other coaches so keep winning!

The more important issue is that we have paid this clown over $10 mil and he has had 5 yrs to get us competitive with ave. to lower level BCS teams and we aren't even close to that. Good examples- Baylor, aTm and tcwho.
Maybe we should drop down to the Sunbelt conference where we should always be contenders instead of aspiring to become a top 25-30 team. We all pretty much know that goal will never happen with jj at the helm.

Would you rather die a horrible death, or drink an alfalfa smoothie. The smoothie? See I just convinced you to be a vegetarian.
These polling options are silly.

You might just get your wish. My cousin lives in Fayetteville, Arkansas and works in the athletic department at UA. I really don't know what he does there (nothing important, I'm sure) but, he told me they were seriously looking at JJ. I called BS but he was serious. I know they're looking and heard Holgorson (and others) turned them down.

The fans won't like that, I have a vision of angry Arkansans marching to their ADs office with pitchforks and torches.
