14. Worst loss of the half season

The finalists:

• Tulane 27, SMU 26. (I mean this in the nicest possible way, but Tulane, which ranks among the worst in every meaningful statistical category, is dreadful this season. And SMU lost to it.)

There's like nothing on the Big East in that article. What a shame.

No new revelation … it was terrible. Tulane was going to eventually break the losing streak .. Should not have been us and sucks that it was.

Not if keeps the oblivious football schools from trying to "steal" our coach who can rebuild broken teams...

Hard to see how the nationally televised games have done much to help our visibility this year......

Quotes:
Southern Methodist University released its 2012 admissions statistics on Sept. 14. In 2010, 8,239 students applied to SMU. By 2011, that number had jumped to 10,338 applicants, a 26 percent increase.
We’ve had a number of people that were here and committed, but there were a lot of people apprehensive from the death penalty time that didn’t want football to get going here,’’ said Jones, referring to some of the drawbacks he faced after taking over the program. "What happened to us after our bowl win in 2009, (freshman) applications went up by 50 percent, and that was in a down economy. The one thing that changed is that we were on national television and played in a bowl game. That proved my point that football is the best marketing tool for a private institution.
