When was the last time we saw this offense chew up that much clock in the 4th quarter? We were still up 17 points, but this drive at the end of the game sealed the deal. To cap it off with a Line TD was icing on the cake. That was nice to see the offense take control of the game at that point.

Gilbert's 11 yard run was the key to that drive.

june's idiotic third down bubble pass almost ended the drive and handed them a ton of momentum. Thank goodness Zach took control and GG knew how to get the first down

GG has been the goat more than the hero this season has had several nice plays with his feet, both last week and this.

Key drive. Offense looked winded...not used to being on the field
Great job

Why couldn't June run the ball on the drive like that on the drive before. No need for Gilbert to be throwing at that point in the game. June is one stubborn cuss.

I have to say that drive was impressive. Time and time again they took the field and ate no clock, but finally they committed to the run and did.

Gilbert could of slid short of the first down, but wanted the first down more, when I saw this all I could think was this QB wants to win

I think JJ was seriously trying to have a long possession drive on the previous drive that ended in the pick six. Unfortunately GG misread the corner and it was a pick six. The Cougs were stacking the line so a pass was called for. If JJohnson had double moved it would have been six the other way, but would have used up only 5 seconds and we would of course have been accused of piling on at that point. Luckily, we peeled off that 9 minute drive and put in the dagger. Great game.

My seats are at the 25 yard line and and the sidelines after the play I could hear Gilbert discuss with the receiver, was it Thompson?, that the route called for the receiver to come back to the ball. May not have been Gilbert's fault on that play. Still, with a corner working the receiver so closely, maybe you look to your next option there.

June is in no way off the hook, but that drive showed he hasn't completely lost his mind. The quick pass on 3rd down was a bit confusing, but he followed it up with a Line run. Zach did a fantastic job of staying in bounds when he had to stretch it out, and the pass plays were all safe, but effective.
I think that drive may have been the turning point. There were 4 scoring drives of 75 yards or longer in the game, but the first three were all sub-4 minutes. When we really needed it, the entire offense pulled together and showed what it can do including running, passing, converting 3rd downs, and the aforementioned GG scramble. I could feel a lot of positive energy coming from the hundreds upon hundreds of fans left at the end of the game, and I think this will lead us through the rest of the season.
The UCF game will be a huge test, but if the offense can keep the momentum going forward and JJ doesn't have any more senior moments, I don't think the Black Knights will have enough offense of their own to keeep up.
Here's hoping (and praying) the regular season finale against Tulsa will decide the C-USA West champs.

No other drive in the history of football has given me hope that an offense might be starting to get it. Like I said in the other thread, the players were amazing on that drive in spite of some awful playcalling decisions.

That was big, but it would have never happened without DJ's miraculous catch to get the first first down.

We had a similar, I believe non scoring, drive against Tulsa to close out the game a few years ago. I think it ate up the last 6 or 7 minutes.

Huge point in the game. The steam was out of the crowd, UH was clearly pumped up and Crawford was starting to get into a rhythm. There were key and huge 3rd down conversions. And the time taken off the clock completely deflated UH. The TD ensured a victory. All positions played a long consistent and under pressure drive as well as a team could.
The last game saving late game drive that sealed a win I can remember was against Tulsa a couple of years ago.
But this drive was to me the key turning point. It took the track meet scoring by both teams off the table and put incredible pressure on UH and their D.
