Ok, I get it...

I accept the fact that not everyone will agree that this was a great win. I get that people will argue that we should have scored more and held them to less. I understand why a lot are saying JJ still has to go at the end of the season.
But the one thing I do want to call a lot of people out on is their assertion last week that this team has quit on the coaches. That they aren't going to play with their hearts in it.
These kids stepped up and whipped up on a team they haven't really even played close the last five years. I get this isn't the Case Keenum team we've seen the last 8 years he was there. But this isn't SFA. It's a conference rival.
These kids kicked some major [deleted] [deleted] last night. I don't care if they're playing for JJ or not. They're playing hard for each other and themselves at a minimum, and that's more than enough for me.

Bingo, hopefully these guys have stopped looking at the stands and want to come out and wreck shop on every team they play. That team I saw at Ford last night gave a damn and I hope they keep giving a damn whether their coach wants to be here or not. Plenty of time left to make something of this season and send our seniors out on a good note.

Amen!! These guys have not quit, not by a long stretch.
Their confidence is fragile. Building it and maintaining it is on the coaches. But, you can't coach "heart". These guys have it in spades.

i would agree with that whole heartedly. It was a very nice rebound and showed great character.

The coaches look totally 'disconnected' from the players. But the players look totally connected to each other! And that's why the Mustangs won BIG Thursday night! Proud of these guys. This game will go down in my SMU memories as one of the greatest that I have ever witnessed from start to finish.

Watching Timmy Chang and GG talking times on tv they certainly didn't look disconnected.

I don't remember too many saying the players quit. I just think some were saying it was bad coaching and recruiting. But I think most acknowledge that the players are playing as hard s they can.

Proud of the way the team came back from a tough loss. They very easily could haven given up on the season.

Minus the first half vs Tulane at least.

I can subscribe to this assertion that try are still playing hard. Thursday restored my faith in the players. Since the USM flop last year and the lifeless bodies from then till this game I was extremely critical. The sad thing is maybe they are playing their hearts out every game but they just can't match up against the opponents that destroyed us last year and this year. However, I take less quality who play their hearts out any day over more talent and less hearts. Ill still be critical, AD, the coach and the admin but unless I see a white flag ill assume they have as much heart as our band does.
