SMU Law Grad brings down Lance Armstrong

A article in Bicycle magazine reports on Travis Tygart, SMU Law School graduate, who leads the USADA (U.S. Anti-Doping Agency) and directed the effort to strip Lance of his results since 1999. As a cyclist, I feel it is a sad, but necessary, day for Lance and his supporters. To quote the kid, who said to Shoeless Joe Jackson, "Say it ain't so, Joe!" Unfortunately, it is so.

Good for him. Armstrong is a despicable human being. With or without drugs. IMO.

Cheating to win at sports doesn't make you despicable. If it does, then there are quite a few associated with this school that fit that bill. Given what he has done in fundraising, I'd say he's even.

Lance did a lot of great things leading Livestrong and spearheaded an organization that led to hundreds of millions of dollars to cancer research.

That said, from what I hear he was a HUGE rick with a p. Sometimes that comes back to haunt you.

Sadly, the sport of cycling appears to be a sport where chemistry is more important than training. Knowing how to dope, when to dope, what to use to dope, is very important apparently in this sport. The man deserves a medal for eluding the tests for over a decade. If he'd been caught in year 1, he'd just be another cheater. Now he's an elite cheater.

Doubtless.

The admiration for total [deleted] like Lance Armstrong, Michael Jordan, Deion Sanders, Tiger Woods, and the like just amazes me sometimes.

People really can be such sheep when swayed by the media and advertising.
