He said team has to play well to win...just can't show up.
I feel better now.
Hopefully, they will "show up" vs. Memphis and the remaining schedule. I do feel they have the capability to win out. Go Ponies!!!

I'm not sure how the Tulane game was not a let down. June acknowledges that the players did not play well, surely that equates to letting themselves down, and the team, and the fans. I would also point out that June can only speak for himself, and perhaps that was his point, that he didn't feel let down.
I certainly did!

if losing to the worst team in college football isn't a let down, then the state of smu football is more sorry than we all were lead to believe.

Absolutely, 2007. You are right. And coach jones is right - no let down. 5 years in. Isn't that just a fine situation we find ourselves in at "just hope we can make it to any bowl, anytime, anywhere" U.

I agree! If the loss against Tulane was not a letdown then June needs to go immediately. If he acknowledges the team was arrogant and mistakenly thought it could win by simply showing up, that is still unforgivable, but correctable and merits giving him more time. June can use that letdown as a teaching opportunity to show the team that they really need to focus each week.

Translation:
I did a terrible job preparing my team and this has been a constant struggle for me at SMU as evidenced by my terrible first quarter performance history

If that wasn't a letdown, I sure as hell don't want to see what the team plays like when they actually do have a letdown.

26...against, arguably, the worst football team in Division I. Not even 72 points on cougar high can take off the [deleted] smell of that game.

Hardly letdowns. Both were better teams and we were completely outcoached in both of them.

Guessing that "under the radar" & "diamond in the rough" recruiting also factored into those games as well.........

Hard to see getting beat by 35 and 45 points as anything but letdowns.
