Gilbert's Best Game since...Lake Travis

Kudos to Gilbert. Looking at his game log, this was definitely his best performance yet at the collegiate level.
He eclipsed 300 yards only 1 other time in his career, and threw 2 picks that game.
Only 1 other multi TD game, without a turnover.
Today he finished 25/35 for 353 yds, 1 TD, another 2 running - and most importantly - no interceptions.
Well done, sir.

He fumbled and turned it over. But other than that, I agree.

Awesome game, and he needs to run more to put the opponents defense a little more on edge.

very impressive from mid 3rd on. Didn't he finish 14 for 14. Hopefully light is coming on. Best SMU drive of the season with about 6 straight completions

Thank you Stallion. The first half was BAD.
Please make sure the light bulb retains its power source.

First half was fine... he had a bad pass on the first series, but other than that moved the ball up and down the field until we got inside the 20. He just needs to get on the same page with the receivers there.

Just to add statistical insight to the first half...
First drive, 3 and out, one bad pass.
Second drive, 9 play 66 yards, FG. Not a great result, but not a bad drive
Third drive, short TD
Fourth drive, short FG
5th drive, 10 plays, 62 yards, TO on downs. Still not a bad drive that started on our 2.
6th drive 10 play, 60 yard drive, FG. Again, not a great result, but not a bad drive.
7th drive, 3 plays, 18 yards, fumble
8th drive, end of half.
"Bad" is what we did the first several games of the year. 3 drives of over 50 yards in a half isn't bad.

Gilbert's performance in the second half was the best performance I've seen this year from any QB in D1. Didn't he have something like 14 passes caught in a row in the 2nd half ? Including a 41 yard TD Pass during that stretch of 14 ? If he plays that way at UCF, we will be hard to beat.

He needs to be scrambler and passer on the outside. I think with him moving makes him have less power and with less pop on the ball gives him that touch he needs. Only problem is that if he led this too much they will be ready to spy him constantly he's needs to also maintain the balance but add in the scrambles more often I think we have a solid QB

Gilbert has been horribly inaccurate when he's had to leave the pocket or throw on the run. Yesterday was the 1st sign that could change. Just in time for UCF?

You didn't watch west Virginia vs Baylor.
