I'm as big of a pessimist, glass half empty guy on this board when it comes to SMU football but I have a weird feeling we are Liberity Bowl bound. We will beat UCF next week and later battle Tulsa for the West championship. Then we will face a very beatable ECU squad in the C-USA Championship. Result - Liberty Bowl against Ole Miss. I want at trip to Memphis and a conference championship......please make it happen boys.....Pony Up!

And the lucky thing is if we take care of business the Tulane fiasco is meaningless. Win out and we are in.

is it a done deal for CUSA champ to play in the Liberty Bowl? I think these kids want to go to Hawaii and I can't say that I blame them. Would be a nice reward after the way this season started out.

June has set the bar high and the goal is...the Hawaii Bowl!

I'm pretty sure he'd tank the CUSA championship game if it meant going to the Hawaii Bowl.

So disappointing that the players and now the coach is coming out and saying the preseason goal has been the Hawaii Bowl all along. Nothing like setting mediocre goals. How about the goal being a BCS Bowl, CUSA championship?

Maybe if we go to the Hawaii Bowl June will stay on the islands for good. We can ship his effects.

How do you figure it will be ECU? UCF will likely be the east rep in the title game.

That whole postseason ban thing means no conf champ game either. Appeal has been filed

They won the appeal. UCF is eligible for it all.

We could still win conference and go to the Hawaii Bowl, it happened last year with So Miss. And if June has anything to say about it, that is where we would go. Yes, Liberty Bowl would be much better for fans.

everyone says this is June's doing, but do we know the kids don't view Hawaii as the plum? For the fans, it's great to go to Memphis and pay the #7 or #8 SEC team, but since this team is not worthy of a big-time bowl, I think I would prefer Hawaii if I were in their shoes. After all, the bowls are supposed to be a reward, right?

If I were a player I would want to go to the best bowl possible with a matchup against a marquee opponent. If it happens to be Hawaii this year so be it. If the players crave going to Hawaii as much as some say they do then why not schedule Hawaii for a 13th game every season. It should be a win most years and the team gets to go to Hawaii. If it really is that appealing then it should help recruiting.

As a fan, I want to see us play an SEC team and be able to go to the game.

As a player, it is our last chance to play in the hawaii bowl, and that is a really fun experience, so I would prefer that.

As a neutral, I look at it and say "Neither is a BCS bowl, so meh".

Whatever is best for the players and the program I am a fan of.

Didn't win the appeal. They simply appealed and the decision date is set for January. Could easily lose their first bowl appearance as a Big East school.

The Liberty Bowl decided they didn't want Southern Miss...not the other way around.

No the SEC decided they didn't want to play a CUSA team in the bowl and exercised their option to have a Big East team play in it instead.

No. Appeal set for January. Punishment on hold until then. So UCF is eligible this season, but may have to do the penalties next season
