I want us to blow them out and not lose to them like we did with Tulane. Let's keep their win column at 0.

This is starting to feel a lot like 2006.
Needing to win at Rice to clinch a bowl berth (if we don't lose to USM at least) and then the awfulness that was the following season (which I think we can all see coming).

USM getting desperate for a win; would be classic SMU to give them their 1st of the season

I am confident that Coach Jones will have this team completely prepared for USM. In fact, I believe that the loss to UCF was part of JJ's mastermind plan to have the team fully prepared and completely focused for USM and the remaining games in this season, including the unknown victim in the Hawai'i Bowl.
The only thing that tempers my optimism is whether USM is smart enough to do something "surprising".
"That was a little bit surprising," he said. "We weren't anticipating they would be able to do that. But they do a good job with their scheme. They lean on you. They get a body on everybody and Latavius does a great job of finding creases. . I could have run through a couple of those holes.
"I thought we played well enough on defense, had we been answering the call on the other side of the ball to make it a competitive game."
from the DMN, "June Jones, SMU hit hard by UCF's 'surprising' run game in 42-17 rout"

Conference home game versus an awful team, we'll be prepared (13-1 in our last 14 C-USA home games).

we will be prepared only if the team takes it upon themselves to get motivated and energized. we all know the coach won't do it.

Did you guys see the post-game interview from UCF where he says that USM is really good and basically the same as last year but without the good record?

Someone posted earlier that he was building them up to excuse a loss to them. I agree with that assertion.

ok. please show me one coach interview where a coach has ever said "oh, i'm not worried about the game next week as our opponent sucks."

we should have a throng of about 10-12k out to support the Mustangs this week. Our lack of support works wonders for visitors

You're not going to find a dismissal of an opponent that overt but you're also not going to find any coach equating one of the worst teams in a program's history to one of their best. I guess we could chalk this up as more of June's trademark hyperbole, that or he hasn't actually watched Southern Miss play this season.

Winning against major BCS competition would probably increase that throng dramatically. After 5 yrs we still can't beat bottom level teams like Tulane. Dallas just won't support a loser or a team that plays dis-interesting teams.
