If you had 15 minutes with Pres. Turner to discuss athletics

What would you ask him?

For me, it would go beyond the simple hiring/firing of coaches. I would ask him a fundamental and sincere question about the university's commitment to a top level athletic program. Regardless of his response, I would want to know the reasoning and the analysis that went into that decision.

excellent question. I might also add what has been done to provide 'athlete' friendly programs.

I would ask how are we progressing in getting the indoor practice facility built.

I think all three above are great questions, and my follow up would be "if the stated goal is truly to achieve excellence in athletics, what is your office doing to support the AD in reaching that goal, or what is it going to take to get you the hell out of the way if you can't offer tangible support?"

I'd ask I'd we really intend to compete or not.

I'd ask him if he truly believes we have the structure that will allow us to compete at the highest levels and not be satisfied with mediocrity.

I'd ask him what he believes is the true benefit of a successful athletic program, and if he believes in a net plus from competing at the highest level, where we are now versus where we ultimately aim to be. I want to see a roadmap; not saying it doesn't exist, I just want to see it.

I'd thank him for finally putting SMU back on a competitive playing field. There is absolutely NOTHING (institutionally) stopping SMU from competing with any of its rivals EXCEPT for an agressive and younger Coaching Staff that knows how to recruit Texas. SMU has made a huge commitment to both Football and Basketball-just a lot harder climbing out of the hole you dug for 20 years. The rest of the challenges are just noise on the margins faced by every athletic program in the country. Hire good people and solve them

I'd ask why not serve beer at the games and boost attendance?
