I wonder if we will see an uptick in 5th year senior transfers to take part in this program...

With the sports hub of Dallas this degree certainly might interest some people and players.

Now they need to add the undergrad program. My granddaughter did an internship with the SA Spurs when she was at Trinity and loved it.

SMU already added an undergraduate Sports Management degree several years ago (yes AFTER June Jones came to SMU). If we are going to make angry accusations about SMU's lack of commitment to undergrtaduate curiculum please educate yourself first-Only need a 2.0 GPA to be admitted into this degree program

You construed my comments as 'angry accusations'? Really? Sorry that I was unaware they had added this program but don't think my comments were in any way 'angry accusations'.
Lawyers twisting words.

In all the bellyaching I've never seen this even mentioned. This is great.

I've mentioned it, along with Applied Physiology, at least 30 times on SMU boards. Applied Physiology is basically Kinesiology. Some universities actually call that major Applied Physiology and Kinesiology. Kinesiology is another word for Physical Education which was the term used in the 70s and 80s. School Presidents think words like Kinesology and Applied Physiology sounds more scholarly. SMU and Turner did,in fact, make a major financial commitment to SMU athletics and June Jones in particular with the creation of the Simmons School of Education.

Here's a Classic Ponyfans thread in which I throughly debunked Mexmustang's nonsense that SMU hasn't added any new fields of study for June Jones. Also points out that in reality some major Texas universities have greater admission standards than SMU-something rarely pointed out here

Prior random Google searches I've done have discovered 8-9 SMU Football/Basketball players in these majors ( I definitely remember Taylor Reed and Robert Nykundi) . Just found more Randall Joyner, Chase Joubert and London Giles are Sports Management majors. Substantial numbers of SMU athletes major in Applied Physiology and Sports Management in the SMU College Education-.

I certainly remember the talk when Simmons opened that there would be athletic friendly majors, but the reality got lost in the [deleted].

This makes admission and majors a dead issue.

Has there been an athlete to fail out of this major?
