That had to be one of the most uninspired wins I have ever watched. JJ has killed whatever buzz he created for this program upon his arrival. I feel sorry for the players, they deserve better

Eh, while I can't say there was anything special, we won convincingly from start to finish. Only thing I really have to complain about is how we again blew a 1st and goal from a couple yards out and end up coming up with 0 points after a stuffed run, a hold, a few false starts, and a blocked kick. we took care of business against a horrible team.

I am not even worried about the missed opportunity inches away from what in my mind was a touchdown. As long as it doesn't come back to bite us, it is water under the bridge. Hope we crush Rice!

except for the fact that it's a recurring problem with this team...

Up until now it hasn't changed the outcome of a game. I have enough to complain about.

What was the rush to push he ball over the goal line against the worst team in the leaguer from less than half a yard?

Garrett Gilbert is fast. I mean, he can run. Was that part of the game plan? Wish he would have done that more against Baylor and TCU when things broke down.
Austin Fuller is a big, nice target. Why hasn't he played more and been part of the rotation? If any reason but injury, June is schizo.
how did Southern Miss get so bad so fast? Why did they fire Bowers again? they couldn't have lost that much talent.
why did they wait until late in the game to promote the basketball game tomorrow? Geez, nice promotion for the free ticket by presenting a football ticket but people have to know about it.

that was a 2 TE goaline offense wasn't it. He tried a 1 TE formation a couple of weeks agoand I believe Gilbert scored. Worked on First Down tonite-good good push. Hey at least he is trying something new. I give him a little credit for breaking his usual stubborness

Saw three receivers bunched together which seemed like a new thing to me.

I can't really think of inspiring plays except the amusing defensive turnovers or the decent running game with our duo. However if we play and have play calls like this game, rice will be frying us in Houston ruining any chance for bowl and championship. It really comes down to next weekend. I think Tulsa has a very good chance beating us down on senior night at home.

What would inspire you? 84-0?

Well alot of things would inspire me but one isn't the scoreboard. It's how the points got on the board. Besides a few good plays this game was an embarrassment for both programs. Even my family found it painful to watch as I imagine it was for any new fan. It's great that they won no doubt, it's just the way they won that doesn't fill me with hope for the next two games. What would have been inspiring? Having more vertical passes rather than the easily predictable (sad for USM) bubble screens or our one ZL running play. I'm glad GG was in the option runs. It would have been nice to see the defense not give up too many third downs and making sure they get good fundamental tackles. So there is alot I wish was an improvement. I also wish CP and other backup squads got more reps in.

I thought it was a good win. The only thing that un-inspires me is DJ dropping balls. It doesn't help that JJ keeps calling him the best receiver he ever coached when I watch him drop passes that are right in his hands.
