the announcers were talking about their surprise that our team flew to Houston Saturday morning rather than Friday night----especially since it was a big game for us. Anyone know why or was it just another way for JJ to make sure we weren't ready?

I am more curious about Turner and Hart's absence yesterday. That is a game our leadership team usually makes.

June probably had an interview with Cal Friday night.

At least we can hope....

They flew out Saturday? That does t sound conducive to winning.

President Turner and Rick Hart were there on Saturday. Rick Hart was on the field for most of the game.

If you have a poor product you need the right kind of Salesman
What SMU needs now is a Texan who knows a little about football and proficient in selling used Cars to take over the Recruiting.. If you are an honorable man you can't sell a product that has a flashy paint job with an engine that is sick and undependable. If you have to deceive to sell you have to use a deceiver.

I disagree Doe. I dont think we need a deceiver. This isnt a Tulsa or USM. We have alot to offer athletes. The only thing we dont have is a recent BCS or champ title. We have growth potential, education, great night life, everything most kids want. We have the ability to sell to recruits that they can play early and get notice quicker to the NFL. We can share in the past 2-3 years how many of our kids have made it to the NFL and stayed there.

the answer is we need a new coach who is enthusiastic, hard working, respects our traditions and will build a staff that wants to recruit at the top level and create a winning environment ala Vandy.

Exactly, heck add in Northwestern and Stanford. However what do they all have in common... BCS conference. We are going to get stuck if we dont jump start this team and get some 10-2 seasons and beat BCS teams.

I thought that freaking night-before hotel ritual was the one thing June put effort into, we've done it every game, home and away....gosh, could this guy be any more checked out? We are now getting minimum effort in EVERY facet of his position.

Have you guys been watching the Stampede this season? June's pre-game and halftime speeches are so apathetic. "Love each other, play hard, have fun, and let's see if we can go out there and take it." And it's said in the most monotone, unenthusiastic tone of voice I've ever heard from a coach in any sport. If that's his best and most emotional speech, I think he may actually be dead and someone forgot to tell him. Good Lord it's boring.

My initial thought was, it is a cost saving move. But I am curious also

lwjr- I thought maybe it was cost savings as well. However, if they were concerned with costs why would they go to a hotel when they have home games?
