1) fired June Jones;
2) hired Spike Dykes for $4m per year for 4 years;
3) re-signed LB with a $100m buyout for another 4 years;
4) a stadium in the 5th largest media market in the US.

The Pac-12 is intriguing.
With Maryland leaving the ACC, Clemson and Florida State are that much more likely to join the Big 12.
If the Pac-12 ever hopes to expand, it will not be able to take any existing BCS schools. The Big 12 will be too strong to raid. With their options so severely limited, if the Pac-12 ever hopes to expand, SMU must be considered a legitimate contender.

Less than zero chance we go to any of the "power" conferences.

Its less than that. Zero chance. Absolutely none. Any talk of it is absurd.
SMU football really needed this Big East to stabilize. It didn't happen. Now the iceberg is dead ahead.

Assuming the Big 12 holds, name four schools you believe the Pac-12 will take ahead of SMU.

Please stop it.
Fine here ya go
Boise State
Nevada
San Diego State
Colorado State
UNLV
BYU
Air Force
Wyoming
Idaho
Then I could see the PAC 12 going all the way to Dallas to grab SMU.

They just won't expand. Why split the pie more ways if the new members aren't making the pie any bigger? Cable networks in Texas aren't going to pay top dollar for the Pac-16 network because SMU is in the conference; hell, the SMU-Rice game was (mercifully) unavailable on TV in Dallas last week on UVerse.

You know so little, yet think you know so much.
Boise State is shortly removed from having a truck driving school. The Pac-12 will never accept such an academic inferior.
Nevada has a very small athletic budget and no market to speak of. Hardly worth it.
San Diego State is not joining the Pac-12. Television networks consider Los Angeles and San Diego to be a single market. That market is already dominated by USC and UCLA. Hell will freeze over before San Diego State joins the Pac-12.
Colorado State is somewhat possible, but highly unlikely. The Pac-12 already has Colorado, which will no doubt work against Colorado State joining.
UNLV is a possibility given its market. However, their market is not as large as Dallas, and UNLV has poor academics. UNLV is a candidate, but well behind SMU.
BYU will not be invited to the Pac-12. BYU is too religious for the Pac-12.
Air Force is possible, but would likely be opposed by most members. Colorado would not want to share its state, and Berkley would oppose a military academy.
Wyoming is nothing.
Idaho is less than nothing.
Not one of the schools you named would be taken over an SMU/ Houston combination.

June always wanted to coach in the Pac 12 - who knew he only had to keep his job. The irony would be we get invited and then can him.
