More disappointing season?

I know everyone gives me a hard time for saying I expected around .500 this season.
But for me, last season was much more disappointing than this season. Two experienced QBs, an NFL WR, All Senior O-line, deep DL.
This season, we have new QB, no NFL WR (we can all agree DJ hasn't had an NFL season), brand new OL with a center playing guard and a guard playing tackle.
I came into this season expecting .500. Last season was the year we should have been at 10 wins and pushed us a step forward in recruiting (remember, TCU didn't get it's boost until they got LT and got to 10 wins). Instead, we struggled last year, are struggling this season, find ourselves outside of the BCS again, and have trouble bringing folks in with BCS offers.
If we take a step back in recruiting this year (only saying IF because it isn't over yet, but we all know what's up), I don't think it is about laziness or anything like that. It is about us having an opportunity last season and not taking it.

I know I have given you criticism, but I can definitely understand the rationale behind that. Last year was so disappointing, even before JJs betrayal. So I can understand the .500 expectation. It just sucks that this can be justified.... Thanks JJ

Yeah OK-
this is a [deleted] conference this year that we should have breezed through for at minimum 6-2 record 7-5 overall.

Wow, glad I wasted the time to read that dribble. Don't think it's laziness? We don't even do a half-[deleted] job of trying to recruit non-BCS kids. Oh, except if their dad knows June, calls and asks him to offer junior.

I've been a Mustang fan for a long time, I could write a book about disapointment.

We need a new OL coach for sure. His UCLA O lines were not good and that obviously was a result of poor coaching because they are doing well now.

Last year Houston was strong, USM was strong etc. This year USM hasn't won a game and Houston is struggling. No way we should not be challenging for a CUSA championship in this weakened league. Losses to Rice and Tulane (2 teams in which SMU had more talent) in the season in the 5th year of a coach are just unacceptable. Last year SMU fought hard in every game and only had 1 bad loss to aTm. This year we get beat by 22 by a lesser talented Rice team.

Do you people even *try* to understand a point? Don't waste good sense, Jason.

JasonB is just trying to throw out his usual pro JJ apologetic rhetoric. But so do you at times as well.

He writes verbiage and just because it is a long diatribe (this one was not as long as the others) does not make it right. I do realize you are a JJ sympathizer and are trying find anything out there that you can hang on to. People can see through his drivel.

I am still waiting for some to tell me what the h e l l happened in Tulsa last year. Might be the worst game I have seen in person in years. From top to bottom, they didn't give a rats a s s
