Does this make any sense?

Sorry if this has already been brought up in another thread. But my sources say it looks like this is June's last year at SMU. Kind of a mutual decision and a compromise will be made on the buyout since both parties want to move on.

So if that's true...why not go public with that info now...allow June to coach in the Hawaii Bowl....be all appreciative of what he's done.... 4 bowl games in a row...keep it all positive...and start right now on the new coach search instead of waiting another whole month or more before starting down that road.

The more time we can give the new coach the better chance he would be able to salvage some recruits and not be staring off in such a late in the game hole.

1.) I pray to sweet baby Jesus and all that he stands for that your source is right

2.) I wondered the same thing with Doh. At this point, if everyone knows that the Hawaii Bowl is June's last game, I don't think that's going to detract from his coaching or the player's focus. If anything, they have more to play for. Let it be known now that he's leaving, get someone in earlier so we can not only retain top recruits (if we even really have any lol), but to start shoring up the next batch of recruits.

But it is SMU, so who knows why they function the way they do.

So the plan is to start our coaching search after Christmas? By that time every job opening should be filled and we'll be picking through the scraps.

I KNOW NOTHING, but what if the coach is already chosen and will be playing in a bowl. I think that would be why you are not advertising. Again, who knows? But one can always hope.

I've been saying that this has to have been prearrangement after the ASU disaster. Too late to fund a coach, June, you stay one more year and we part amicably and all save face.

Explains why the only assistants with any ambition left the program except Mason.

Explains the lack of passion and mailing it in.

Explains the total lack of recruiting, worse than ever.

Makes so much sense.

Couchem is right in that if that is the case it will not happen this year.

It's interesting that we won this past Saturday. JJ could have sunk us if he wanted. I want JJ gone sure but we need to be delicate on who we pick to replace because as our recruiting and current team we have some problems in our talent. Lets hope that GG, shead, WRs and some experience linemen to make us a offense machine. Defense I'm worried about but hopefully with the right HC we can truly be number 1 or 2 team in BE.

If IPP is right, and June is gone but they are waiting, it must mean we already have a coach lined up and can wait to announce, or that coach won't go public until after bowls anyway ala June and sugar bowl

I have no belief that JJ cares much about SMU, but why in the world would he intentionally have us lose? I don't think he has a vendetta against SMU, I just think he has checked out and wants to move on.

There's a difference between sabotaging our team (clearly he is not doing that), and not pushing and motivating our players enough to win tough games.
