Not good enough to win in June's system......
But wins a DI-AA national championship
And gets in the Canadian League Super Bowl with the Calgary Stampeders

Good for him. I hope Padron finds even more success next year as well.

Yeah, tonight is the 100th Grey Cup game and BLM was the Calgary Stampeders 3rd sting QB. Their starter went out a couple of weeks ago and their backup is kind of an old timer but once was really good.
He stunk tonight so BLM got some garbage time. There's an expansion team going (back) to Ottawa in a year or two and the commentators were mentioning Ottawa may look to BLM to be the guy they launch the franchise with.

God Bless the Gunslinger!! I swear I would trade him for Romo right now.

And Chris Sanders wasn't good enough to play here, so he transferred and played in the bigs for two years before going on to to a distinguished career in the arena league. And Josh McCown has been playing in the NFL for 10 years, but we couldn't hang on to him either.
So what's your point? I'm pretty sure we've progressed to the point that we can have a couple of QB's on SMU's roster who's professional career highlights are something more meaningful than garbage time in a Canadian Football League championship.
The very fact that he's 3rd team on that roster seems to confirm the fact that he's got enough ability to be intriguing, but hasn't been able to put it all together yet.

Once, we couldn't get anyone in pro football. However Saturday was a rare Hilltop event in that we had an active NFL player (and alum) at our game. I'll take that over players with some professional success that went to other schools.

Always wish we could have seen Gunslinger as a Jr / Sr at SMU. We will never know what he could have achieved here; he started here under pretty trying circumstances. I wish him all the best.

He was a very good kid who showed great support for his team after he was replaced by Padron. Sometimes things don't click and you are right he just wasn't ready to be a freshman starting quarterback in charge of the run and shoot. I remember that he threw some pretty nice long balls that year but overall he was overwhelmed by the system and by opposing defensive lineman. I was happy that he found a place where he could play and now that he is in the CFL I wish him the best.

Are you saying that you would have started Mr. Interception in the end zone going for the win (
See, for example, SMU at WSU.
Also see EWU at UW) over KP in year 2?
It's unfortunate that JJ couldn't convince Levi to stay, bc he would have started when KP underperformed. We all wished him well in his transfer bc of playing time.
This is not a PB or M. Cavan moment, though (J. McCown, C. Sanders, R. Bartel)

Mitchell started his college career at Southern Methodist University and spent two seasons there (2008-09),
starting 19 games and throwing for 4,590 yards,
36 touchdowns and
33 interceptions.

I'm saying there is a problem when Jones could take a QB which we now know has significant talent, and make him looks like a complete idiot buffoon playing for us.

I remember BLM looked awesome in the Houston game that he got hurt in. Too bad, I think he got replaced right when it was starting to click for him.

He continued his INT ways at E. Washington. He is Div 1- talent playing in Div1aa, he was bound to excel. Many fairly talented guys transfer rather than sit the bench. JJ McDermott transferred here and wouldn't have likely ever played if not for KP throwing INTs.
Jones didn't make BLM look like a complete idiot buffoon, his 33 INTs did. Jones didn't throw those, btw.
