Call Boise/SDSU: Back to MWC

With the addition of Tulane you'd have to think the western schools can't be real thrilled that Aresco couldn't lure Air Force, Fresno State, or BYU into the Big East. At this point, we should strongly consider getting those schools together and go to MWC. In all honesty, its not an awful conference.

SMU, Houston, New Mexico, Air Force, Colorado State, Wyoming, Idaho, Fresno State, San Diego State, Hawaii, UNLV, Nevada, BYU

That would be better than crawling back to CUSA.

SDSU remains committed to BE, as long as Boise State remains in. BSU can break contract, if there are no other schools west of the Mississippi.

Better approach is to secure BYU (preferred) or AFA.

Why the hell would AFA or BYU join the Big East now?

MWC is looking like the stronger conference.

I was in SD last week. The Aztecs are convinced that the BE remains the better option, due to FB payouts will they feel will be 2-3X any MWC revenue. MWC markets are remarkably small and will never generate big fees, even if you have SD and Boise or BYU for that matter.

The rational comment. Calm down everyone.

ECU is joining the Big East for football. Must be a major shift coming with the current Big East football schools and the Catholic basketball schools.

Get out. Get out now. Call up Boise, San Diego State, and Houston and head West. If indeed BYU said no along w/ AFA then the western schools are already gone anyway. See if we can ride their coattails into the MWC.

Something big is about to happen IMO....odd that the Big East would totally abandon adding western teams and go after two very poor media markets.

Another big shift is about to happen and fast...God help us if we're not getting out of this new conference.

03Mustang,

I agree. The failure to secure a TV deal and the complete failure in adding another western partner to satisfy SDSU and Boise will kill the Big East.

IMO, this will all shake out w/ SMU and Houston in the MWC.

Just be thankful we are not in CUSA with UNT.
We have not earned any step up.

Better chance of hitting the lottery from the BE than CUSA.

Honest question:

Will TV money be over 3M?

IMO population density alone makes the East better than the West.

BE > MWC in that regard, thus more money. I don't think bolting to the MWC is such a great idea. These hybrid conferences with Eastern and Western divisions seem to be what every conference is after. I don't like the additions of ECU and Tulane, but "wait and see" should be our strategy for now. Maybe start selling ourselves to the ACC and the Pac12 behind closed doors. I just don't see us ever making it into one of these conferences from a position in the MWC.
