OK things change so fast its hard to know where all the pieces fit but if the ACC is devoured by Big 10, SEC and Big 12 what are SMU's chances-need help here:
Duke
Wake Forest
Pitt
UCONN
Syracuse
Miami (depending on NCAA investigation-maybe)
Louisville
Boston College
Cincinnati
South Florida(?)
UCF (?)
Navy (?)
UH(?)
SMU(?)
Temple (x)

I tend to agree that the ACC is about to be devoured. But I don't think it ends there. Eventually, I still think the Big-12 is going to be picked apart by the SEC, Big-10, and PAC. Two years ago, we were writing the Big-12's obit. But now everyone thinks it is stable? I don't buy it. The Big-12 is diminished and very unstable. Any one of those schools (except maybe Texas) would very seriously consider an opportunity to leave. If that happens, your pool of leftovers would expand to potentially include schools like TCU, K-State, Iowa State, Baylor, etc.

The Big 12 CANNOT be picked apart. C'Mon people. They all granted their TV rights for 13 years, meaning that if they leave, the Big 12 gets to still air their games and take in the revenue. Translation, no one is leaving the Big 12.

Big 12 is apparently stable due to grant of rights (signed this summer) which means that Texas, OU, OSU, etc. TV rights are not transferable to another conference. Per what some have told me, it would take a vote of 8 out of 10 current Big 12 schools to allow them to leave. Either Big 12 dissolves completely, or it is stable. Mark me up as betting on the latter

Yes but the Big 12 was smarter than ACC. Instead of big buyout they contracted for assignment of future TV rights for a decade so the Big 12 teams are not valuable to other conferences. Big 12 survives unless they vote to disband

The Big XII is going to be in on the Buffet. FSU and Clemson are already looking to move there - UT is about to have some revenge on the SEC for going into Big XII territory by moving in on Florida and the Deep South.
Rumors are that the SEC also has feelers out for UNC and UVA. The UNC prez has said, and no doubt means at this point in time, that he wants to stay in the ACC for the next '60 years' but that may not be feasible if Ga Tech leaves, although if UVA and the four NC schools stay then that's the nucleus of a conference and they may just move up the coast rather than down it.

OK what teams am I missing. Notre Dame (?). I'll add Navy as consideration. Note we would be right on the margins of a possibly better conference than the Big East. Would the Big East (I mean ACC) now go Nationwide too?

UVA will never end up in the SEC. As an SMU and UVA grad, I know enough about the culture in Charlottesville to say this... UVA and UNC are of the same ilk, so I suspect they will be the glue that holds a new ACC together. I don't think the ACC will disappear.
