I saw the photo on the basketball page of LB holding his hand in the pony ears tradition while the alma played. Wonderful! Has JJ ever done such a thing?

Plenty of times. There are enough relevant things to criticize him about without getting to this kind of stuff.

The traditional lei, the traditional geldings, the traditional black shirt that came from Tony Soprano's closet. He has adopted lots of SMU traditions.

There are obviously alot of issues with JJ but this is something I think is relevant. Remember the coach is a role model. We want players to feel like SMU players. If the coach doesn't express a good SMU tone at the top, he can we expect players to walkover to the student section and band at the end of the game. Yes his number 1 flaw: recruiting, 2: apathy and so on but think traditions are important in college particularly in sports.

Oh jesus, stop with the JJ-bashing. When JJ was hired, there were a lot of people on here asking how they could find a Hawaiian-style SMU shirt to honor him! I was one of those, and I'd still like to find one for next year's home opener (since I assume it will be about 104 degrees again).

You are right, of course, but fans are fickle, particularly after losses to Tulane and Rice.
