Butch Davis Looking for a College Job

told Tampa newspaper he was very interested in USF job but it looks like they chose Western Kentucky coach Willie Taggert

Of course, he may be too hot to handle right now. UNC ended up on probation although I believe most of that was sports agents (not alumni) paying players and then also academic fraud-not sure how far that goes back and really I haven't investigated how much blame he is responsible for.

But probably his biggest personal problem stems from the Miami investigation which could blow up and directly implicate him in major recruiting scandal

At one time he was the dream coach for a bunch of schools-if he didn't have a battered reputation he would be the perfect choice for SMU especially with his Dallas Cowboy past. He pleads his innocence in the link. (Damn I didn't realize he was 61 though-he looks pretty good considering)

Some strong Arkansas donors wanted Davis. He is pretty well liked in Fayettville.

The UNC mess is probably the bigger issue for Davis. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/w ... index.html

id rather see us get a young up and coming. we have seen the 60 something with pro experience. we need a rabid dog, not a cruiser.

The head coach does not need to be a rabid dog--although that would be helpful.

The head coach needs to surround himself with rabid dog assistants who know how to recruit.
