Yes, I know it's early to fully gauge, but when we talk about the appeal of SMU, one of the main talking points is 'opening up a pipeline to fertile Texas recruiting'.

Obviously A&M is seeing the benefits of SEC membership, but can you tell any discernible increase in interest/visits/offers for Texas athletes from the SEC now that the Aggies are part of the equation.

The way real programs react, I would think there would already be a push, especially among HS juniors.

I live in Georgia so I can't speak for the Texas side of the equation, but aTm is making big inroads here and in Alabama. Several 4 and 5 stars hear are receiving interest from Aggie. This is usually fertile ground for Alabama, so it will be interesting to see them compete against each other on the recruiting trail. They will win the SEC west for at least the next 3 years. I really want to see Johnny against the S. Carolina defense. That will be an awesome match up

Raise your hand if you thought tht A&M would go 10 and 2 and have a Heisman winner their first year in the SEC?

Aggies had talent but they just needed the right coach. Now they are getting even more talent.

Well we have two former SWC to be jealous of mainly TCU since they rose from crap to wealth and aggies for having one more heisman than us now and they are blasting off to bigger better things.

Not to mention Baylor winning a Heisman last year

maybe in 2014 but I think UT is still whipping the Aggies straight up. I think Texas has 6 of the Top 10 in Texas. A&M has a highly ranked class but they have 33 commitments. If you look at their average per recruit they are 14th. They picked a good year to have a big class because Texas is expected to have a small class-only about 15 right now. The only A&M commitment that Texas offered was Justin Manning last week and I'm not sure Texas was still recruiting him.

Only prob is Texas recruiting is not translating to wins on the field. Texas wouldn't be 8-4 if they played in the SEC.

I'm wasn't a math major, but yeah, 6-6 as a down year is better than 5-7 as an up year.

But back to the original question, I don't think Mansiel was offered a scholly by Texas. Could be wrong, someone could look it up for me, but I'm pretty sure he wasn't, at least as a QB. A&M probably didn't know what they had until they had him on campus, maybe not until half-way through the season. Again, you play the numbers and take your chances.

But I genuinely believe that if UT and A&M played each other this year A&M would win. But now, who knows.

There is without a doubt that AM would butt pound them national television. Texas made an obviously cowardice decision but nevertheless probably without a doubt the smartest. Could you imagine. Getting butt pounded by big 12 mates and your wins were extremely close. Imagine... AM and OU butt pounding the whorens in the same year.. That would be close to my dream which would be SMU going in that stadium and doing the same thing.

Texas gave him a look at DB as did Oregon supposedly.

I see what you're saying with the record. A win is a win, but we were supposed to dominate Cupcake USA by year 5 of the JJ era, remember?

We did beat a CUSA team with a winning record this season!

if we played in a real conference we would lose every game by at least 35 points.
