eh..... so we're invited to a club with certain members and then the club determines that the majority of the membership is leaving and that there is an exit fee for leaving. the club still wants us to join but certain members are allowed to keep all the fees from the exiting members and then wants to disband the club? i don't know "stallion" but from posts assume he/she is an attorney and might be able to give us some insight on the legalites of this type of "scheme".

yeah I actually posted that denuding the Big East of 20 million would definitely buy a lawsuit-but they are talking about exit fees of other schools who have already left. Not sure if we would be entitled to that. But the Big East name and contract rights are part of the package we were offered and accepted-that could bring a lawsuit.

Thank you Stallion for the response. At the very least it seems this situation is going to be dragged on and we'll be playing in the Big East nxt year.

Oh I forgot though-if they dissolve then there is no entity to pay entrance fee-so it might actually be a financial benefit

Someone told me that, per the bylaws, the exit fees are to be dispersed to the conference membership as of day of exit.

What did the new Big East teams pay in entrance fees? Whatever if any payments made should definitely not be distributed to teams in process of leaving and certainly not to the Scumbag Catholic 7 who are attempting to screw everyone!

"With various penalties built in on exiting the conference and other details which must be worked upon, the earliest the Catholic schools will leave is 2014 or possibly 2015."It's one thing to say you are leaving, but the devil is in the details. They (the Catholic schools) did this, but I'm not sure if they have any idea of all the work that is involved in making it work. Right now, the Big East doesn't have a television contract for basketball for next season.''

wow

That statement makes it sound like Steinberg negotiated the exit for the Catholics

apparently there was no entrance fee for SMU to join the Big East. That's surprising-every other major conference charges hefty entrance fees.

That shouldve been a red flag. "Oh man we've finally arrived ! Been wanting to join Dallas National or Northwood or Brookhollow..finally found one to join just like those. Oh, but there's no initiation fee. Just as good though! BCS AQ!"
