Wow I just was watching the 'TOP Running Backs From The 80's' tonight on NFL TV and I was just waiting for it and.........YES it IS...... the great Eric Dickerson as the #1 RB! LOVE IT! :D

He beat Walter Payton @ #2 ....and then they made the mistake of showing ED on the sideline as a reporter...'Its raining and its wet'

Payton made more out of his given ability than any player I remember, but as far as a pure runner, it's hard to remember anyone better than Dickerson. Ever.

They had some great RB's in the 80's including John Riggins and Bo, but they ranked ED the best...it was somewhat controversial decision to some of the sports figures on the program but they got it right. ED scored 24 more TD's than Payton.

for a 5 year period starting in 1981 he was the greatest running back ever-how many other NFL statistics are still standing almost 30 years later-and he never played beside a QB that was worth a damn. Still the greatest rookie rushing record of all time and greatest single season rushing record of all time almost 30 years later

As a fan of the LA Rams, getting Dickerson was a dream. I hoped it would be a catalyst for change in the Rams organization. My SMU guy to my pro team. Instead, it all went poorly and the Bit#h too the team away. So many players and memories being forgotten. I own and proudly wear a white Dickerson Rams jersey. He was so awesome to watch.

Go Ponies!

Totally agree...he was just really fun to watch...so fluid and effortless. Could run you over or run around you. He had such a upright running stance and was so unusually tall at the time for a RB with those kind of skills....
