I think the POD system would be cool. Just something to think about guys! Makes me think we need to respond to all this uncertainty be re-investing 100% in our athletics. Lets get our programs super-charged.

North
POD 1: Washington, Wazzou (Washington St. right?), Oregon, Oregon St.

POD 2: Stanford, Cal, Nevada, Utah

South
POD 3: Arizona, Arizona St. UCLA, Southern California

POD 4: Colorado, New Mexico, SMU, Houston

I honestly like the pod system. If there are 4 pods of 4 teams in a leage, you play everyone in your pod every year, and 2 teams from the other 3 pods, rotating teams, every year. This would up the conference unity I think. So if SMU and Houston Joined the PAC. SMU's Schedule would be like this:

1. Out of conference Game - Baylor
2. Out of conference Game - Texas Tech
3. Out of conference Game - TCU
4. Houston - POD 4
5. Arizona State - POD 3
6. Utah - POD 2
7. Wazzou - POD 1
8. Colorado - POD 4
9. Southern California - POD 3
10. Nevada - POD 2
11. Oregon - POD 1
12. New Mexico - POD 4

Don't get yourselves too excited. Just a thought / hope for SMU fans. Outside the PAC, I doubt SMU has many options purely because the ACC (Next best hope) has many schools wanting to be apart which are closer.

I would die for a PAC invite since my brother is an ASU guy. It would make things a lot of fun.

Nevada and New Mexico aren't even on the new Big East's radar, and they are going to get invited to the PAC- 16/18 whatever it becomes? Not likely.

I doubt they dilute their brand that much.

Now, if they did HAVE to add 4, I could see them going for SDSU, Boise, SMU, UH as a group. This would obviously be years down the road, but it is possible.

I can just see UC Berkeley, UCLA, Stanford, and USC drooling to invite Boise JC and the State School in San Diego to join them.

Nevada and New Mexico are laughable.

Even UH doesn't cut it.

If they really are interested in TV in Dallas and Houston they would be more inclined to look at RICE and SMU as they at least bring academics along with Texas TV.

I would die for a PAC invite just because I love the west coast so much.

so where were UC berkley, UCLA USC and Stanford when they added Colorado and Utah? How can they stomach being in a conference with Washington state, arizona, arizona state and other medium to poor schools? How could you even dilute that brand - it already sucks academically.

the snootiness of the pac whatever on academics is a joke.

CU is such a better school than you're leading on above.

those are all research schools. something SMU is not. we are at a disadvantage academically with regards to the PAC

I'd argue that "academics," meaning the quality of teaching to actual students, has zero correlation with whether an institution is a "research" school. But I get your point.

SMU has altered their goals and mission to be a research oriented university. Seriously.

We have a perminent header on smu.edu about research. This helps our academic rating tremendously.

Guys, we ARE a fit academically for the PAC. The conference values forward minded universities... Progressive, etc...

The methodist church is the most liberal sects of christianity out there. We dont even need to take religious courses at SMU! TCwho and Baylor both do.

We would be ranked about 5th or 6th of the current schools academically. We just need to PRAY that they decide to expand and the big12 doesnt fall apart.
