QB Derek Carr

We recruited him the same year we landed Kaiser and now we are playing against him in the Hawaii Bowl. Beat Fresno.

JJ deserves a lot of criticism regarding his recruiting. Carr isn't one of them.
His older brother David played QB at Fresno State and ended up the first overall pick in the NFL draft. From what I have read about Derek Carr, he wanted to follow the same path as his brother. Family changes things.

Agee! I wish I could live so long to see some of you try to deal with your boys from 15-24. Guess what? You never get it right, the rules of the game say so. It is impossible to get it right, dad becomes stupid sometime in this period and only gets smart when these kids find out just how hard it is in the real world--how to take responsibility and keep the money flowing so they can spend it. Trying to predict what a 17 or 18 year old is impossible, which is why so many good coaches try to go pro.

I picked SMU over the Aggie because there were better looking women at SMU. plus, my dad wouldn't let me go to the Univ of Hawaii.

if i remember correctly his brother never looked like that big a deal against us either, even when playing much lesser Mustang teams. i think we own that family.

Some don't live up to potential. But when you're playing that game, you have to count guys like Margus who lived right up to the hype == and then some.
