Three sources told me today that Boise's depature from the Big East is inevitable. "I would be shocked if it didn’t happen."

If Mike Aresco moves quick on Fresno State and UNLV (long shot BYU), he could pre-empt BSU's change in heart. I suspect he is working overtime to determine how the 'West Will Be Won'.
Here from SB Nation:
"Despite not yet playing a single game in the conference, it is 'inevitable' that the Boise State Broncos will leave the Big East Conference, according to a report from Pete Thamel of Sports Illustrated.
Boise State announced a decision to join the Big East in December 2011, but wasn't set for an official entrance to the conference until July 1, 2013. However, conference realignment and a recent departure of seven schools from the conference's basketball competition put Boise State at a crossroads with several different options that SB Nation's Samuel Chi broke down on Monday.
Among the potential scenarios presented by Chi was a return to the Mountain West Conference, a potential move to the Big 12 or Pac-12, or a decision to become an independent. Thamel did not report a potential future direction for the Broncos.
The Boise State football team is set to participate in the Maaco Las Vegas Bowl on Saturday night against the Washington Huskies after a 10-2 season."

I just didn't get why non BCS teams would bail from big east... Would the mwc really be better? Absolutely not. This is the wait in line conference, everyone below is FCS bound the above is set in stone

If the MWC TV is now truly up for bidding, everyone is going to do their homework and determine what works best for them
Boise's value actually goes down significantly right now because having BCS points doesn't really matter at this point.
UH and Houston will at minimum have the pick of which next level conference to join - NBE or MWC - based on what the money revenues will be. The only market the MWC has right now is... none. BYU, SDSU, and UNLV are the major markets remaining out west. With the schools currently in the big east you get san diego, dallas, houston, and florida. I wouldn't be surprised to see not only us and houston tied at the hip, but also to see us partner with SDSU to drive revenue and get the best deal.

In the past there has been mention that Boise was considering spearheading their own conference-perhaps they want to correct the mistakes made by the Big East by having more West teams and moving SMU and UH East. This is probably the best scenario from a Boise perspective
Boise
BYU
Colorado St
Air Force
Fresno
SDSU
UNLV
SMU
UH
Cinncinati
UCONN
UCF
USF
Navy
I'm really not too fired up about a entire West Coast Conference with 4-5 West Coast games a year. This would require a helluva lot of traveling though. I admit on paper it looks better than it would be to travel that much

why the New Mexico love? I really don't care but I think Boise recruits extensively in California and therefore they would prefer Fresno

Nevada needs to be in there!
Just a few years ago they made Great 8 in hoops.
And the football team has been very good for years.

This is going to be all about TV.
Given Stallion's list:
Boise
BYU
Colorado St
Air Force
Fresno
SDSU
UNLV
SMU
UH
Cinncinati
UCONN
UCF
USF
Navy
I think ECU (enrollment) and Temple (location) would be the two additions to make it a 16 team league.
New Mexico isn't populated enough to be able to generate interest. If we were going to grab another school, Tulsa would be in front of UNM because of the quality of the sports program. But unfortunately, I think the only way to get pulled into a conference if you are located outside of a major media market is to be a huge school.
Just looking at revenue numbers, I could see ECU and Temple pulled in, and Fresno and Colorado St pushed out in a 14 team league, and us pushed out west with Houston. I think that might be more probably than Stallion's suggestion.
Boise
BYU
Air Force
SDSU
UNLV
SMU
UH
Cinncinati
UCONN
UCF
USF
Navy
Temple
ECU

Temple is fine, but no to ECU. Under that scenario we need an additional Western team to keep SMU and Houston on the East. If BYU goes for full membership, add Hawaii to have 14 full members and 16 football members with one in each division.

How many times
This IS ALL ABOUT TV MARKETS and revenue.
That is why some were upset about Tulane and ECU as they have NO Market.
Boise is not a big market but a top 25 team.
The Lobos are in a small market...dead weight.
