Does it have to stop at 16 or could they go all out and bring in:

North Carolina, Virginia, Duke and GA Tech.

Those 4 schools make a more natural grouping, especially since you already have Maryland. If not, I think the odds of us being aligned with Duke are pretty good. And the school that gets left behind by the B10 will not be happy.

Forgive me if this is stupid but: Why is it a race to 16 teams, not 18? You need 8 conference games and 4 OOC to make 12 games; meaning you need 8 conference opponents. Eight plus you is nine, two divisions, so eighteen...does my math make since? Does every conference want to build in one cross-division game or something?

Delaney I believe recently mentioned going to 18. There are a lot of thoughts that things are headed in that direction.

I agree, it makes a lot of sense. 8 conference games, all against your own side of the conference. Some non-conference against the other side, others with outsiders. Helps out with basketball scheduling.

What it really does is that if there were 4 18 team conferences, it is really 8 9 team conferences, and the conference championship game is the first round of the playoffs.

If all 4 went to 18, it would really capture all of the major players, and the side conferences would be completely irrelevant.

the "side" conferences would be FCS. Along that comes fewer scholrships and less financial pressure and they could still be scheduled once a year by power conference teams. Money game for the FCS program and "breather" game for the FBS team...at least they hope that will be the case
