I think we will do well if June prepared the team for the opening Baylor game like he did the Hawaii Bowl.

the problem we come up against when we play Big 12 teams is that they have better athletes across the roster. Fresno has them here and there but its like trying to compete with a team filled with 1-2 round draft choices when you have 6-8th round draft choices but its time we step up at home

Innate desire is also a factor. He and the team have to want it.

Sorry guys but talent and coaching disparity between SMU and BU is too great to hope for a win.

If we can keep it within 21 points would be a remarkable.

One thing that really stands out to me is how incredibly well prepared the defense has been for all 4 bowl games.

The secondary will be good enough and deep enough next year to allow us to be more aggressive defensively; it should be fun to watch.

Baylor graduates quite a few players...

The ability of Gilbert's to add the run (QB option read and draw) will make it much more difficult for any defense. JJ might not use the option read next year but the fact he called it several times in the bowl game will cause teams next year to prepare for it.

With a few QB design run plays, defenses must be a bit more careful with blitzes and secondary schemes. That JJ put these plays in and GG executed them really helps open up the O against defenses.

It might be possible to have a much better offense starting next year than this year and have a lot more options available to Gilbert.

I am confused abut Margus. During the season he bull rushes every time just trying to manhandle the blocker. He does a decent job of contain most of the time but his rush is limited to occupying space. In the past 2 bowl games he has looked like a different kind of DE. After Birmingham I thought he would be a first round pick. After this season I figured a chance pick in about round 3. I think he just moved up again last night.

I think we need to plead with JJ to wear the lea around hid neck. LOL Seriously, I hear u Stallion. We agree, recruiting is a big difference between the two teams. However, I saw some things happening on offense last night that made me think Gilbert might have a very good year next year. I hope these receivers (or others) will be able to get open and catch passes. With Shead and the other running backs and a more experienced offensive line, our running game should be at least decent, maybe very good. Cross those fingers, if people do their jobs we could be pretty good...maybe.
