And Another Thing

For all the JJ worshipers...
We win Tulane and Rice we are in the Championship game..Win that and bowl game. now its a ten win season and ready to pole vault to the next level.
That's what it is all about at this point... Getting to the next level... Winning seven games a year and playing a bowl game that pays less than a million is chump change.

Do you not think everyone is aware SMU would have won the division if they beat Tulane and rice? Not sure what point you are trying to make by addressing this to JJ supporters specifically.

Statler, please name a single JJ worshipper on this board. There might be few who think he deserves one more chance, but no one on here "worships" him.

Yeah, but if SMU won C-USA, JJ would have to get out of the Liberty Bowl again.
It's much easier to get to Hawaii if he doesn't win the conference. And that's really what he cares about.

I have stated that I would like to have a new coach. Why do you say I am a JJ worshiper?

I remember when we used to enjoy big victories for a at least a few days before we started carping about how crappy the coach is.

Grant, you can't let facts get in the way of a good rant sometimes.

Love the results of our game christmas eve. makes me even more anxious to get relevant by whatever means necessary. we are on the edge but have a long way to go - starting with not being satisfied with near 500 seasons vs bad competition.

You aren't looking at the facts. I was very upset after the Arizona mess. I was very upset after the Tulane loss. I was more upset after the Rice loss. I have said time after time that we have to have more wins to be where we want to be. However, reality tells me that JJ has taken us to four bowl games and Everyone on the board might as well get use to the fact that Arizona is over and JJ will probably be the coach as long as he pleases. That's just reality. I am a MUSTANG first. I support the team. Second, recruiting is harder than I think most of you realize. However, what the majority of us want to see is more visible effort. I have agreed that a North of Dallas recruiting office might be a good idea (if it doesn't break the rules). I have also made numerous other recruiting suggestions.
Lastly, JJ has his qualities and abilities that will be hard to replace. I certainly don't want to see us go back to loosing all of our games. I don't want to worry yr after yr if UTEP will blow us out. Weve had some very good coaches go through here that couldn't do the job.
So, do I like JJ as our coach. It doesn't matter. I am realistic. He has his faults. He has his strengths. But, it is up to others besides me and you.

Another thing. I was deeply disappointed when we lost Adrian Klemm. In fact, I have kept in touch with him a bit. It would be great if we had another Klemm on the staff.

Grow up. JJ was quoted saying he wanted to win CUSA, but if he didn't, he preferred Hawaii because of his background there and because the players enjoy it ... and whatever his rationale, he had the team ready to play. Stop whining about the past and act like a fan. If I could play a game in a place where I lived, that would have appeal for me, too. We all wanted a better record, but for a number of reasons, it didn't happen. But JJ probably can stay as long as he wants. 4 straight bowls (including 3 wins) buys major cred at a place that didn't sniff a bowl for 20 years. That's not "accepting" the record this year. It's just realizing where we were and realizing how much better off we are than we were 5 years ago. I expect that if we had made the Liberty Bowl, we would have gone, regardless of who which bowl JJ privately wanted, because sending the official SMU party to Hawaii is seriously expensive. But the fact is we didn't make the Liberty Bowl, so stop acting like a 5-year-old and enjoy a fantastic victory.
