Discuss. The question is for overall sports.. not just football.

Big East: better bball than mwc, better football than mwc, most likely better tv contract, better exposure for possible conference jump, possibly more regional (cheaper travel) relative to mwc... On a scale 1-10 (10 being sec strength) BE is a 5.5 and mwc a 4.0.
Another add-on: stay with big east no exit fees

I agree that the BE, as it looks now, is the better option. My concern is that it may not look that way for long. Too much instability and I'd hate to be left without a chair when the music stops.

SMU just needs to stand pat for now and let it play out. Nothing going to happen in the next several months.

Chiming in with everyone else. The MWC is not a good alternative as it's turning right back into the WAC 16 only without the good teams this time (BYU, Utah.) Travel costs are high, TV contract is still terrible, and TV airings will remain bad. In other words we'll be reliving 1996-2004 all over again and none of us want to return to those days.

Wait for the ACC to come and carry us away.

A few years in the Big East market will work wonders for SMU and its image nationally. We will get nothing by being seen at 10:30 at night in Fresno. We need to ride it out and see how all the conference action falls into play. We just have to be relevant in Basketball and show up to play out east in football. UH and SMU need to stay together because we are becoming the largest TV markets over the next 20-30 years.... in the Nation! Demographic trending show that and these conferences recognize the statistics also.

Uh, did y'all miss this?
The BE is going away. Kaput. Finit.
Boise is gone, Catholic basketball is gone, ND is gone, Louisville is gone, Rutgers is gone.
Hello?

The MWC is that ugly, lonely chick sitting around at the bar. She'll be there at closing time. Don't take her home unless every other girl says no, and don't rush to take her home right now just because the girl you're with is completely falling apart.

Thank you! A perfect analogy for the simpleton who thinks MWC is the way to go.

I'll take Door #2. If we raise our performance in the East, we have a path forward. We would be invisible in the West, especially when you consider that the BYU Couhgars decided that the MWC doesn't help them, either.
