Note the strong performance of Stanford, Northwestern and Vanderbilt, along with progress at Utah State, San Jose State, North Illinois, Cincinnati and Tulsa.

Top 25 in all we do!

Take the Top 25 plus the others receiving votes ... we played 5 of those schools and beat 1. I bet Fresno State would have made it into the other vote category had they not lost to us. Beat Tulane and Rice (as we should have)... that's a 9-4 season with a bowl victory ... then either 9-5 or 10-4 with the Conf Champ ..... yes "If & Butts" .... yet so close.

Always important to finish on a high note, and we did. Big "W" against Tulsa in a must win ... and a decisive Bowl "W" against a heavy favorite. Not what we want, but it's nice to have our grumble meter hit high gear at now above .500 seasons and mid level bowl victories.

Unward and upward Mustangs

As Bum Phillips once said.

"This year we knocked on the door, next year we are going to bust it down."

How in Hades does a team that gets blown out from the opening to the close of a game end up #3 or4? Any team other than ND drops out of the top ten after last night.

I don't doubt that we'll be good on condition that GG's comes through and plays like we all hoped he would and a good running back (Shead?/Line?/Others?). The offense will have to score a lot next year.

They should have been in the 6-8 range. However even with a blowout loss, how many one loss teams do you see ranked outside the top 10?

Notre Dame didn't look better than any team in the top 10 last night.
The Irish got fully exposed for the frauds that they are this year.

As June once said:
This year we knocked on the door. Next year, we'll probably knock a few more times. Give us 4 or 5 more years of knocking and we may go ahead and enter that door year 6. Maybe.

Baloney.

The idea that either Notre Dame played a patsy schedule or didn't deserve to be there is BS - People are looking for a scapegoat for a flawed system and since Notre Dame lost - badly - they are the sacrificial lamb.

Notre Dame was the only undefeated school that wasn't on probation in the country. They beat:
The Pac 12 champs (yes, that includes Oregon)
The Big 12 Co-champs
A Miami team that would have been in the ACC Championship if they hadn't put themselves on probation
3 Big 10 teams, including one that beat their champs and was final top 10. ND absolutely would have beaten Wisconsin.
The preseason favorites for the national title at their place.
The ONLY significant conference they didn't beat someone from was the SEC.

Notre Dame took on all comers and beat them. Frankly, only an SEC fan can complain about losing a spot to ND. The rest of the country can stop hanging them out to dry for a flawed system.

how can you say that the schools below them wouldn't have fared the same if they played Alabama?
