A far cry from the guy we saw at the Hawaii Bowl in '09. Running all over the Packers. Pistol formation and destroyed them. Very impressive win.

Nice parts of our history will always be the defeats of Colin K and Dan Marino in bowl games.

To be objective, he lost his two running backs before the bowl. Kinda sucks running a pistol with scout team running backs.

Unofficially, June could beat the AFC Pro Bowl squad on that island.

I remember watching Kaepernick in warm ups...Can't teach 6'5" with the running stride of a deer and a very legitimate plus plus arm.

Give the rest of the credit to Harbaugh. Not sure what he's done his entire life, but he has an eye for QB talent and giving them immediate chances at success.

He had already won it if I recall but could be wrong. I do know he had not been tackled for a loss the entire season and Rufus Cormier alone did so 3 or more times in that game.

***EDIT*** Looked it up and Stallion (of course) is correct. I sure thought that Owens won the Heisman in '68 but it was '69. Some Simpson guy who goes by his initials was 1968. What the SMU defensive did against Owens, however, is still big time.

So I guess it bodes well for the opponents QB to get a whipping from SMU in a bowl game!

In 2009 the Nevada Wolfpack had three 1,000 yard rushing backs including the QB Kaepernick. When game time arrived one was ineligible and another was injured. The end result is all they had was Kaepernick. SMU D had no problem keying on a single threat.

As a resident of Northern Nevada for 8 years I watched him during college and his success in the pros is really no big surprise. The 49ers have a good shot at a Super Bowl win! There is no doubt he is big, fast, and smart. The 49ers have a great D, smart coach, and previously underrated QB!

All eyes should be on his replacement at Nevada Cody Fajardo. His first two years indicate that this kid can play too!

I have followed SMU football for a while. I fully realize the situation that occurred in the 2009 bowl game. Probably all 1,281 people that watched the game understand that also. However, as lore goes on and as stories are told and if Colin K develops as it appears he is going to, SMU will be able to say they beat him and Marino in bowl games and only when one of the 1,281 witnesses to the game makes a statement as you just did will the legend begin to die.

So Derrick Carr will win the heisman next year by our bowl track record. Which big time player was on the ND team we beat in the Aloha Bowl? Tim Brown must have been on that team, I cannot remember?

Will never watch Kaepernick without thinking about the Hawaii Bowl and how we snuffed him out al day.
