excellent podcast over on PonyStampede (Scout) on June Jones' presence (or lack thereof) in recruiting. Includes perspective on excitement from kids when he makes a school/home visit-he just doesn't do it enough. Highly recomend Scout these days-they are really working hard and are especially responsive to questions asked by subscribers.

Are you saying he is very effective but extremely lazy? Maybe he needs more bonuses in his contract.

Curious, do many HCs make in home visits unless there is a big push to get a kid who's on the fence? I don't hear of Mack Brown doing this very often, if ever, for UT. Don't need a rant, just askin'.

Saban and others this time of year make a lot of in home visits. And not just in home but high school visits by head coaches mean a lot as well this time of year.

just in the last 24 hours I've read of Mack Brown visiting Hebron for a 2014 recruit and Desoto for Dontre Wilson. Of course they hit the road hard although I think there are more limited periods a Head Coach can recruit off campus.

Agreed, Stallion. Great podcast. If we could just arrange for recruits to be at the clubhouse during the Sony Open ...

Saban is the self described "best recruiter" in college football, so I expect he probably makes as many in-home visits as any head coach in the game. He understands you don't win championships by "coaching them up"

Just check out the record of Saban, Urban Meyer, Les Miles, Schiano when he was with Rutgers, and you will find that most of the successful head coaches hustled their butts and made the difference in recruiting.

Most of the more intelligent posters here know that using jj and recruiting in the same sentence is a complete oxymoron. jj is only interested in getting his 2 mil per year and then moving into the sunset. He cares totally less about our university and our moving into a top tier fball program- hence his total obsession with mediocrity.
