Next year in the Big East

I don't have much science behind this, just gut feel. But I predict a bit of a breakout season, a next level type of year. I say we'll have eight wins and may smell a few top 25 votes. I really do think that'll be the absolute apex of what JJ can do here based on existing and incoming talent and, while it'd be nice, would be no where near what I want from this program.

We could challenge for the Big East title if we have a good Spring practice and develop.

An 8 win Big East team would never sniff the top 25.

We're not challenging for anything until we learn how to win on the road (8-22 in road games during the Jones era). That'll be kind of difficult with a bunch of new starters.

Mark as greatest leap of faith ever based upon what is known.

This is exactly what y'all were saying after we lost to Tulane to go to 2-4 on the season and I said not to worry, it was just one game and we would still get to seven wins in 2012. I believe my buddy Calallen called it "prediction of the century if that were to come true." It came true as we went 5-2 to end the season.

you said we'd finish 7-5 which we didn't. I remember because I said the same thing because we played in a [deleted] conference and when we play at higher level we are overmatched which apparently came as big surprise to some

it is going to be tough. expecially after we suck all the energy out of our fan basis by getting railed by 4 big 12 teams in a row. worst scheduling ever.

we will get rid of one of the big 12 games.

I thought we would struggle this year because we had so much change on the oline, a new QB and no playmakers at WR.

Next year, I think the oline will improve significantly, because the young players will be ready and better than those they replace. WR will be better through experience and I think we will replace a couple of starters. Defense as a whole will be better because of a massive improvement in the secondary due to JR and Horace and the safties having a year of experience. And of course Gilbert has another year under his belt.

I think we are going to be a better football team, but I am not going to predict wins until the schedule is out and finalized.
