Prescott Line

For the past four seasons, SMU fans have watched running back Zach Line absolutely destroy opposing defenses, on the ground. He’s compiled ridiculous rushing averages while breaking SMU records and helping the Mustangs get closer and closer to being relevant in college football again. However, he’s now off to bigger and better things and while most college football teams can only dream of having star players return as freshmen again, that’s exactly what SMU is getting with Zach’s little brother, Prescott Line.
Over the past three seasons, Zach has rushed for at least 1,200 yards and double-digit touchdowns–the true definition of a workhorse running back. At 6’1″ and 230 pounds, all but one of his fans calls him a power back who plows his way through defenders and breaks tackles to gain most of his yardage. That lone difference of opinion belongs to none other than Prescott, who describes his older brother as a “mobile, agile guy who gets to the outside.”
Rest assured, Prescott is the only person who would describe Zach as a finesse back, but that’s because Prescott is even more talented and could do more than just build off what Zach accomplished at SMU. When you compare the two brothers’ senior seasons at Oxford High School in Michigan, Prescott rushed for 700 more yards and 20 more touchdowns. If he can take that same ratio of production in his first season as SMU’s starting running back, Prescott will take a ton of pressure off the Mustangs’ shaky quarterback, Garrett Gilbert.
You can bet your bottom dollar all Pony fans will have a lot more confidence heading into their first season in the Big East with Prescott coming in to take over for Zach and usher in a new era of SMU football. A word of advice for the 2013 college football season: don’t sleep on SMU.
