WES SUAN: Building blocks

Spring workouts are used, in part, to fit new players in at new positions, and at no position group is that more true at SMU's spring workouts than on the offensive line, where the Mustangs are replacing three graduating starters. New offensive line coach Wes Suan visited with PonyFans.com to discuss his move from coaching running backs to the offensive line, and his thoughts on 2012 starters Ben Gottschalk and Taylor Lasecki and the crew of youngsters vying for the other three starting spots.

I like Coach Suan a lot. He is a class act, knowledgeable, and the players really like him and respond to him.

Coach Suan could coach any position and do an outstanding job. Terrific football mind and has an excellent rapport with players and coaches. Well respected. SMU is fortunate to have Wes Suan.

The job he did stepping in to coach the line before the bowl game in Birmingham told everything we need to know about his ability to coach the line.

Yup. Coach Palcic retired, but it seems like Coach Suan should do a good job, too.
