If he can continue to win at that school, just imagine what he could do with more resources.

He hasn't won at that school, the fact that they gave him an extension is a little puzzling but guess at that salary they can't do any better. That's Fran's retirement gig.

What resources at Texas State? That place is a bigger joke than UNT.

Sure you don't want to rethink that?

They are both LOL worthy, but yes UNT is a little higher on the totem pole than Texas State.

I wouldn't say he couldn't win at Alabama. He inherited a 3-8 team and went:

2001 Alabama 7-5 4-4 T-3rd (West) W Independence
2002 Alabama 10-3 6-2 1st (West) Ineligible 11

Alabama: 17-8 10-6

I know but he did it with essentially none of his players.

sit back and wait-he's building a solid program at Texas State-i believe Texas St. had the No. 1 recruiting class in the Sun Belt. Won 4 games including UH in transition year in Division 1A ain't bad. Went 6-6 in previous non-Division 1A year after the program had bottomed out. Programs are built in 3-4 years. 19 Three Star recruits in 2 years while transitioning to Division 1A is a minor miracle. Added a Texas Top 100 already for 2014

Fran has a lot of experience winning everywhere he has been with one exception at TAMU and TAMU has had a lot of experience struggling to win relative to resources available especially with a lot of coaches

the Fran hire for TAMU and the way he left Alabama just got things off to a bad start (even though I don't blame him for leaving because Alabama was dishonest with him about the issues they were facing from prior years and coaches)

It will take him some time to really get things rolling at Texas State, but there is a good chance he will do so and Texas State is doing a number of very positive things academically they have a very good graduation rate compared to many other public universities, they have added a number of majors that are needed and in demand and their research profile has grown very rapidly over the last few years....I would recommend them for anyone other than a music major over north Texas state any day of the week

By Stallion's own admission, Rivals has greatly inflated the number of 3 star recruits over the past several years so is the Texas State miracle that Fran is orchestrating really that great?

if Fran "didn't win" at A&M finishing last 2 years at 9-4 and 7-5 in the Big 12 with national contenders Texas, OU and even Top 10/Top 20 teams in Texas Tech and OSU in their Division does that label also apply to June Jones at SMU playing against Rice, Tulane, UTEP and the other Mighty Mites of CUSA? He did beat UT 2 years in a row which is better than June has done against our rival TCU
