DALLAS (SMU) - On the field, SMU's June Jones has led the Mustangs to four straight bowl games, but off the field, he's also making big strides in the Twitterverse. His Twitter account (@CoachJuneJones) now has almost 12,000 followers, making Jones the most followed coach in a non-BCS-AQ league and among the leaders in the state of Texas according to a report in the Tulsa World.

Jones has the 36th-most followers among the 87 college football head coaches on Twitter. Jones' total is tops in Conference USA, SMU's current league, and will rank third in the American Athletic Conference behind only Louisville's Charlie Strong and Cincinnati's Tommy Tuberville when SMU joins on July 1. Within the Lone Star State, Jones rates fourth behind Kevin Sumlin, Mack Brown and Kliff Kingsbury, but well ahead of Art Briles, Tony Levine and Gary Patterson.

That is still 12k people that know when SMU has a game. And it shows that SMU is putting effort I to building interest. It is silly but certainly not negative.

any publicity is good publicity for a program as irrelevant as SMU has become

now if we can just find a "signature win" or two...we have plenty of opportunities this year. That's the plus side of scheduling up
