TCU loading up their schedule with BCS schools (LSU, Ohio St., Arkansas, Minnesota) even though they are in the highest rated computer ranked conference-SMU too frightened to play B-A-Y-L-O-R at HOME while in CUSA 2.0

That series was scheduled 5 years ago. Don't know why its in the news now. Arkie will keep pushing that game back until they are sure they will win it.

I think its time to stop the TCU talk - we cant compare ourselves anymore. They get, they got it. Enough

Yep, we blew it with Copeland, and our coaching hires (before JJ) and our restrictions. And TCU lucked out with Patterson We are going to have fight and claw our way up and it may indeed be too late. Hope not. LB is a good start. I think our best shot is the PAC-16, BUT WHO KNOWS.

TCU = Big-time program, with big-time thinkers running it.

SMU = Medium-sized program, with small-time thinkers running it.

Some of you keep applauding SMU's administrators and gradual progress but the train has left the station and we aren't on it. We should be innovative and have a sense of urgency here that I'm just not seeing.

There's no reason we can't achieve tcu's success.

But we aren't going to.

I would be happy not hearing about them for a while. Just rubs salt in the wounds.

Because if I am going to pay for the Mustang club, pay for the tickets, either drive 10 hours or pay for a flight, I would like to see at least one decent team on the field. I will always go to the games. If we are not going to try and compete against good teams, at least let me see a good team for the time and money spent.

As long as you keep paying out money it won't change.

so let's all stop contributing to the Mustang Club and watch as we drop to Division II or lower?

This is an example of a team stepping up to gain national recognition. In a couple of years Arkie goes back to playing A&M every year in Dallas so they do not necessarily need more Dallas exposure. If they want more, SMU would be the logical one so they could have a breather from the SEC schedule. So either we did not want to play them (which I do not want to believe to be true) or they recognize that to be on the national stage you need to step up your game rather than scheduling patsies. Either way, we have missed out on a good opportunity to have a nice drawing home and home with Arkansas by letting our neighbors once again take the lead.

No, let's all stop contributing to SMU, academic side included. Hurt what actually matters most to get results. Not that very many on here donate with enough digits to make a blit on their radar

I'd be pissed about dropping Baylor too if I were an SMU fan. Three reasons;
1)This is type of schedule that SMU aspires to play (Baylor, TCU, A&M, Tech.. etc.)
2) SMU loses credibility when it backs out of a schedule with a historic rival that you've been playing for 100 years. Its one more excuse to relegate SMU off the schedule.
3) It's Baylor... the historic doormat of Texas football. You should be able to beat them.

Y'all are over reacting a bit to the long term contract with UNT. I would expect that there is no or little buyout to get rid or postpone a game incase something better comes around.

There are tons of teams that would want games in Texas (especially Dallas) and look to schedule teams that want to recruit Texas and have a hard time due to the lack of games here. Look to schedule mid to low level BCS teams like Purdue, Colorado, Utah, BYU, Indiana, Illinois, Washington State, Oregon State, Syracuse, Pitt... etc. Also, look for big venue match-ups at Jerry's world like Nebraska, A&M, Alabama, etc.

Scheduling crappy AQ teams won't do us any good because they won't draw at Ford and no one will travel for the return game. Scheduling games at Cowboys Stadium doesn't make any sense either because it would take games away from Ford and it would take some 2 for 1 or 3 for 1 deal to get any school worth a damn to play us there anyway.
