SMU Football team/athletes should volunteer to help in Granbury and Cleburn...last year Tech drove all the way from Lubbock to help out in Duncanville after the tornadoes last year.

Duncanville is a recruiting hotbed  ...I'm sure Tech would have helped out if the tornados would have hit Anna TX.

Not a bad idea if they could help and not just be in the way like a lot of volunteers who don't know the drill are

Great idea, although admittedly hard to coordinate. Finals just ended, so many are visiting their families before returning for summer school. Would be a great idea, though.

Be a good idea - timing's rough, though...

Just an idea, why not send supplies or materials that families need with some SMU logos on it to show we're reaching out? If showing up on spot is difficult to do then sending supplies could be manageable as well as useful.... Maybe slip a few tickets in there for the Montana State game....

I always find that using tragedy for gain is a good idea. But back to the original poster's idea, we should go down there an help where we can.

It just seems like these are perfect community outreach opportunities and yet we seem content to let them pass on by. Alabama/Auburn football players helping tornado victims in Tuskaloosa, Red Raiders helping out in Duncanville...this stuff gets national publicity and grants tremendous good-will toward those programs. SMU has a reputation for being snobbish and too elite to bother with Downtown/South Dallas...events like this could help us reverse that opinion and start to tap into a much needed potential fan base...and yet we don't act, so it reinforces that opinion instead. If we can't bring players, donate our SMU equipment trailer for supply transport...something to put that SMU name in that community.
