One of the anchors of the SMU defense throughout his career, linebacker Taylor Reed led the Mustangs in tackles in each of the last three seasons, but he still went unchosen in last month's NFL Draft. Reed signed as a free agent with the Dallas Cowboys, and visited with PonyFans.com to discuss his reaction to getting bypassed in the draft and his first NFL practices.

I'm pulling for you T-Reed. If former Red Raider Zach Thomas can make it in the NFL ... so can you. Never say die, take no prisoners and give heck.

Of the SMU guys who signed as free agents, I say T-Reed has the best chance to stick on an NFL roster. After Sean Lee, the Cowboys have nothing in the middle of the new 4-3 defense.

This!

T Reed has the strength and the speed to play on the next level. He's also pretty sharp with the right amount of nastiness (seems like he became more poised his senior year, too).

Was Lee's injury last year a freak accident, or are there questions about his durability? If he proves fragile, the Reed is definitely in the right place at the right time!

I also have my concerns about Sean Lee's durability. When he is on the field he is one of the best inside linebackers in the NFL. Problem is that being on the field has been a real problem in his short career thus far. Hopefully Lee can stay healthy and Tank can get on the roster next season.

Hopefully T-Reed gets the starting job, whether Lee is healthy or not!

Well of course ... but I'd love to see it!
