SI: Projecting major conference bowl lineups from 2014-19

"Due to the ripple effect of both the Cotton and Chick-fil-A bowls moving up to the top tier of games and a larger shift in the conference-bowl dynamic, there will be many changes not only in partnerships, but in the way bowls and conferences do business and the way teams are selected/placed in bowls."
Conspicuously,
The American is not projected at this time, but has this footnote:
"The American Athletic Conference, a.k.a. the former Big East, is largely in a holding pattern until the power-five leagues fill out their cards. Its current Nos. 2-4 bowls -- Russell Athletic, Belk and Pinstripe -- are all likely parting ways, but the Beef 'O' Brady's Bowl in St. Petersburg, Fla., remains a viable option."

Aresco needs to go hard after the Liberty Bowl. This new conference lineup is in danger of losing all of their bowl tie ins and the Liberty would be a good one to add.

Beef O' Brady's Bowl is a nightmare scenario. Horrible name for a bowl, horrible venue for a football game. Furthermore, it is the most unappealing sounding restaurant I've ever heard of.

Yuck.
Would much rather prefer the Hawaii Bowl over all these.

Memphis reportedly is a finalist for the MBB tourney. The conference could leverage that for a Liberty Bowl slot.

I've been a big supporter of JJ, but hopefully this motivates him to realize that it's win the conference or bust, bowl-wise.

I hope so too. I think our ducking Baylor to make the OOC less brutal was an all-in gamble that if we go into conference less banged up we have a solid shot to win the conference and take advantage of that last auto-bid to a major bowl. If he pulls it off it looks like a springboard move for the team and the conference (and might be his swan song before retiring to Hawaii); if we tank and sneak into another bowl at 6-6 then it was yet another blown opportunity by an unengaged coach who is satisfied with mediocrity, at which point I don't see folks in a position to influence things sitting on their hands anymore. JJ becomes either a hero or is shown the door at the end of this year; I hope for all of us he rises to the occasion and covers the bet.
