Aresco: New bowl at Marlins Park 'very likely'

"We're moving pretty steadily on that, and we think it's very likely to happen for Miami," said Aresco, who said he has talked with the Pac-12 and Big Ten conferences about lining up a team on the other half of the new game. "It's something we really are excited about. We feel it's workable and would be good for our conference. It's exactly the kind of thing we need to do."

I'm fine with the bowl, but Marlins park is just weird. Are they going to shoot off that stupid home run thing every time someone scores a TD? Ugh....

Better than 40,000 empty seats at Sun Life Stadium

This is a good city for a bowl game, preferably on Dec. 31 so you can hit up South Beach for New Years.

I would walk to Miami for a bowl game in south Florida, if I had to!

I hate Miami as a city and that Marlins Stadium is a joke in one of the worst areas of the city. That said, its a hell of a lot easier to get to than Honolulu or Birmingham or wherever the hell else we would be going otherwise.

Right.

And it's a much cheaper winter beach vacation for the family.

Marlins Park's smaller capacity, asymmetrical shape and downtown Miami location are all pluses for AAC, since 30-40K works well for our new conference and mates. All good and I will go, if SMU is invited

Agreed. I've never been to the Marlins' stadium, but the pictures look pretty cool.

I had a lot of fun going to see some U games there prior to the demolition of the Orange Bowl. The area is great for tail-gating, you can pull into any little bario and for 5-10 bucks parking setup and have a party. Also the sausage and chicken on the stick being hocked by the street vendors is perfect for helping sober up before you drive off.

Also I think the stadium capacity is perfect-not like the monstrous Honolulu Bowl Stadium that always looks empty when we play there. I would love to attend a bowl game here.
