I think Mack coached North Carolina when they played us at Ownby.I dont remember the year but it was in the 90s. He was so upset with the facilities that he swore that he would never play SMU again.

Was he still the coach when we traveled to UNC and Julius Peppers was still there? I went to that game and it was just filthy watching him manhandle whatever poor offensive lineman Cavan threw at him.

His next one might be as H.C. here, if they ever get sick of him in Austin.

I think the eventual implosion of the SWC was insured in 1989 the day Texas played SMU at Ownby and the opposing team was required to cross the street and change in a cramped Basketball dressing room. (Texas never played SMU there again). Ownby screamed MINOR LEAGUE-quite frankly, its hard to blame schools for not wanting to put up with a program that would consider playing in a poor high school fscility

Seeing as the University of Texas had a lot to do with why we were playing in Ownby in the first place, I suppose they could not complain all that much.

They also realized that playing the A&M and Texas home games in the Alamodome made more sense. And wasn't one of our Arkansas home games in Shreveport? (Womackapalooza).

Womack had over 200 yards against Arkansas in 97 when we played them in Shreveport. He had over 130 yards against them in 95 in the game where Flannigan was lost for the season. I seem to remember both he and Flannigan having success against them in 1996 up Fayetteville as well.

We also played Arkansas in Shreveport in 1976.
